The good old tape has been experiencing an unexpected revival as a mass storage device since 2016. The reason for this is primarily the ransomware theme, which also took off in 2016 with Locky. Due to newer and newer versions, some of which specifically infect online backups, one term is moving to the center of attention: Air Gap.
